Many people out there are asking why the Structural Stupidists copy the LinkedIn profiles of these bad recruiters.  This happens so the bad recruiters do not remove evidence that they worked at these placed where they commit these misdeeds.  So, IMEG Corporation Senior Corporate Recruiter Toby Lund, do yourself a favor and pay attention so we can reveal why you, Toby Lund, are one bad recruiter.

For the folks out there who don’t know about IMEG Corporation, it is a nationwide engineering firm that specializes in all branches of engineering such as civil/site, electrical, mechanical, plumbing and structural.  IMEG has recently purchased the Denver based firm of Monroe & Newell, TMAD Taylor & Gaines of Pasadena, CA; and the Nishkian Group of engineering firms in California and Oregon.

Recently, a Candidate applied for the Senior Structural Engineer position in the offices formerly run by the Nishkian companies.  This person has 20+ years of experience designing all sorts of buildings.  This person is a California and Washington state Licensed Structural Engineer.  In fact, this person worked for one of the Nishkian companies called Martin Middlebrook & Nishkian.  This Candidate has designed everything from schools, hotels, hospitals, airports, transit stations, parking garages, office buildings, mixed-use buildings, high-rise buildings,  bridges, apartment buildings, historic retrofits, you name it, this candidate has designed and/or reviewed it.   This Candidate knows how to design buildings complete with gravity and lateral systems.  This Candidate knows the difference between a steel special moment frame and a steel ordinary moment frame.  This is really important in a structural engineer.  Also, this person has designed with all the engineering materials as required as a condition of obtaining a California Structural Engineer License.

After applying for several Senior Structural Engineer and Structural Engineer – Executive positions on the IMEG website, the Candidate received a phone call from IMEG Corporation Senior Corporate Recruiter Toby Lund about these positions.  It was an interview phone call that lasted over an hour.  During the course of that interview, Toby Lund voiced his conversation as a Grade A Asshole.  IMEG Corporation Senior Corporate Recruiter Toby Lund had the audacity to tell that Candidate (s)he did not belong in structural engineering despite having a Structural Engineering License.  Toby Lund also told that Candidate that (s)he was not established as a Structural Engineer.  Hey, Toby Lund, what makes a structural engineer established?  If Licensure and 20+ years of experience does not establish someone to be a structural engineer, what does, Toby Lund?  Of course, Toby Lund has no answer for this.  Toby Lund is a fucking idiot!

IMEG Corporation Senior Corporate Recruiter Toby Lund told that Candidate that an interview would happen in a couple of weeks.

For the folks out there who are asking about this email, who are Levon & Kevin?  We will tell you who they are.  Levon is Levon Nishkian and Kevin is Kevin Menninger.  They both were founders of Nishkian Menninger, the original firm founded by Levon’s grandfather back in 1919.  In that time, structural engineers were respected.  The firm is widely respected, but after they joined IMEG and after you read this article, you may feel differently about the firm being respected.



 

Folks, that interview promised by Toby Lund never happened.  The Candidate wanted to find out what the next step in the process was.  The Candidate did not get a direct response from IMEG Corporation Senior Corporate Recruiter Toby Lund.  No wonder, folks!  It makes you wonder whether Toby Lund would set up interviews with Nigel Farage, Bill Cosby, Phil Spector, and Alex Jones to give his candidates a grosser interview experience

Instead of a response, guess what happened next, folks?  The Candidate was cyberstalked by IMEG.  We know this to be true because that person snapped a photo of the LinkedIn screen. 

 

And that person’s name is Julie Anderson, the IT Security Analyst at IMEG Group.  Now, folks, why do you need an IT person to determine whether someone is licensed as a structural engineer?  Shouldn’t Toby Lund have done this before the interview before calling that Candidate?  Of course, IMEG Corporation Senior Corporate Recruiter Toby Lund is so dumb he would call an actor portraying a structural engineer and then hire that person instead.

That Candidate never heard back from IMEG Corporation Senior Corporate Recruiter Toby Lund again.  Folks, Toby Lund ghosted that candidate.  Toby Lund was MIA when that Candidate followed up.  Toby Lund was also MIA because he was Missing Intelligent Answers.  Toby Lund is one disgraceful recruiter, folks!  He might as well be on Talos IV because everything Toby Lund deals with is in an illusion.


IMEG Corporation Senior Corporate Recruiter Toby Lund still kept posting these open structural engineering positions over and over again.  Now you would think upper management would notice this happening over and over again, folks.  You would be wrong, folks!  This Candidate placed a response to the IMEG postings.

Folks, if you think Toby Lund is the only problem out there, you would be dead wrong.  We have evidence of the Executives of IMEG screwing over qualified structural engineering candidates for years.

Back in 2017, Ed Dean posted a Senior Structural Engineering position for NIshkian Dean’s office in Portland, OR.  Ed Dean responded by stating he was on vacation.




Guess what, folks?  That call from Ed Dean never happened.  Ed Dean is the University of Washington alumnus that is dumber than a box of hammers.  If Ed Dean cannot keep his word on interviewing candidates, what makes this KKK Kent boy able to keep his word with clients?  In short, he can’t.  Ed Dean is called the KKK Kent boy because he is originally from Kent, WA.  He is born and raised in King County, WA, which is home to the great cities of Seattle, Bellevue, Redmond, Renton, Kirkland, Issaquah, and Woodinville.

Folks, if you thought Ed Dean couldn’t get any stupider, you would be dead wrong.  We have an email showing Ed Dean not knowing what structural engineer ad candidates are responding to.  Check out the email he sent candidate – and he’s the Principal of the firm.

In this email, Ed Dean is in a state of stupidity.  He placed a Craigslist ad for a Structural Engineer at Nishkian Dean, he got one who was licensed as one in the State of California with plenty of experience, worked for a Nishkian predecessor company – and still got turned down.  It makes you wonder whether Ed Dean really did all the coursework in his engineering classes or paid someone to do it for him  - because Ed Dean clearly cannot read an ad – and recall it when it is on his own computer.  It makes you wonder whether Ed Dean would hire a waiter for low pay to be a structural engineer instead – and they would most likely have no license.  The Joe Isuzu image is there because Ed Dean lied to that candidate back in 2011.  Yes, folks, Ed Dean has a natural talent for wrong answers you just can’t teach!  Ed Dean, you can go fuck yourself, especially after you see his college grades.


 

Folks, how can Ed Dean claim he is smart in designing structures at Vandenberg Air Force Base when he cannot even read a resume or recall what he posted on Craigslist?  We can bet he had trouble with his son Matthew Dean through school because Ed Dean cannot figure out how to read a resume.


 

TOBY LUND IS NOT THE ONLY BAD RECRUITER OUT THERE – CHECK OUT FORMER NISHKIAN CHAMBERLAIN HEAD CRAIG CHAMBERLAIN

 We have also acquired another set of emails from another candidate who was screwed over by another IMEG Corporation employee named Craig Chamberlain.  Back in 2012, Craig Chamberlain posted an ad for a Senior Structural Engineer.  Craig Chamberlain requested an interview with that candidate.

 


So the Candidate responded appropriately.


So the Candidate had that interview with Craig Chamberlain.  And what was the result of that interview with Craig Chamberlain?

Craig Chamberlain claimed that there was no specific position with the qualifications as a structural engineer.  Yes, folks, Craig Chamberlain forgot what he was interviewing for and forgot about the ad he placed.  This is a sign of rolling mental blackouts.  Perhaps, like Ed Dean, he was paid a visit by the Men In Black and had his memory erased.  Yes, folks, Craig Chamberlain is a SCUMBAG, a Santa Clara University Moron Being Arrogant Greatly.

As for the future positions he promised, Craig Chamberlains promises never materialized.  Folks, if he is this bad with candidates who apply for engineering positions, just imagine how many promises he will keep with his three children.


Also, folks, Craig Chamberlain is a Republican Meg Whitman.  She was the CEO of Ebay who ran for Governor of California in 2010.


 


There is one major problem with Meg Whitman.  She employed an undocumented housekeeper, failed to pay her, and retaliated against her.

Like Meg Whitman, Craig Chamberlain’s actions indicate how little he values the people he interviews.  Yes, folks, Craig have proven much little he regards his employees.

Folks, just when you think Craig Chamberlain could not go any lower by screwing over candidates who apply at his firm, he excels himself by screwing over his own wife Gretchen Schmidt Chamberlain.  Folks out there are asking, what does Gretchen have to do with Craig Chamberlain?  Did you know Gretchen is the Director of Charter Services for charter schools in California?


Yes, folks, why would you send your kids to charter schools when the staff are too busy using their family members to keep kids out of STEM careers?  Hey, Gretchen Schmidt Chamberlain, how can you expect teachers, students, and staff to be accountable when your own husband Craig is not accountable to potential employees?  Remember, folks, Gretchen and Craig Chamberlain need to recall that when they point their one finger at someone, the other four point back at themselves.  Just look at the evidence where it shows Craig Chamberlain treating structural engineers like crap.  Just imagine how he treats his clients, folks – like real badly!

We bet Gretchen never thought this would happen in her lifetime.  Maybe Gretchen should have done some research into whom she married.

Hey, Gretchen, the reason charter schools could be losing money in the future to public schools is because your husband is keeping people from using their education to have a career in a STEM field.

As for Craig Chamberlain, people need to watch what he does to candidates he interviews in the future.  There is no way to know how many people he has jerked around.  What we do know is that he has done it at least once.  Craig Chamberlin really needs to go fuck himself.

BEFORE YOU WORK AT IMEG, CHECK OUT HOW THEY DESIGN BUILDINGS

Folks, we at Structural Stupidists have something that we usually don’t get.  We have copies of plans deigned by IMEG Corporation engineers.  Yes, they are very bad.  These plans were obtained from the City and County of Denver.  We will post these plans online for all to see.  The buildings were designed by Monroe & Newell Structural Engineers of Denver, CO.  They were the predecessor company of IMEG.

While Toby Lund was busy telling structural engineers they need to be established even though they are licensed as Structural Engineers in seismically active states such as California and Washington state, IMEG was busy purchasing firms that are not capable of designing buildings.  We know this to be true because we have the comments from several of the plans that were submitted to the City and County of Denver.  Let us begin showing you how bad these IMEG engineers are.

·        IMEG refused to decrease the shear wall capacities by 7% due to the use of Hem-Fir wood.

·        IMEG refused to provide calculations for the plywood shear wall hold-downs in the concrete.

·        IMEG refused to call out typical details on the plans.  This means the contractor will be very upset over not knowing where the typical details apply the first time.

·        IMEG failed to use the right analysis method for the wood buildings.  IMEG cannot tell the difference between a flexible diaphragm and a rigid diaphragm.

·        IMEG allows walls to have hinges in the middle of stair walls.  Yes, folks, you heard that right, those two-story wall studs will not work because they are too flimsy to be columns.

·        The most important thing of all, folks!  IMEG forgot to check to see if the walls line up for lateral and gravity loads.  That is pretty important to check if you are a structural engineer.

·        IMEG forgot whether to specify the type of CMU walls:  fully or partially grouted, stacked or running bond.

·        IMEG cannot tell what the lateral system of the building is on the plans.

·        The most important thing of all, folks!  IMEG forgot to check to see if the walls line up for lateral and gravity loads.  That is pretty important to check if you are a structural engineer.

If you think they are this bad on large jobs, wait till you see how bad they are on little tenant improvement jobs.  In one of the TI’s Monroe & Newell submitted, a coffee shop wanted to remove part of a floor for a set of stairs going into the basement.  They just happened to remove the horizontal support for the wall.  So the plan checker asked the engineer to check to see if the existing retaining wall would work in the new condition.  Guess how IMEG/Monroe & Newell resolved this issue?  They didn’t.

Based on these three reviews of IMEG/Monroe & Newell’s work alone at one municipality, it is clear they suck at structural engineering.  Maybe Toby Lund and the IMEG crew needs to stop harassing people who can actually do the structural engineering work and quit acquiring firms that cannot do the work.

IMEG purchasing my former employer (TTG) was the beginning of the end. Corporate headquarters is nearly 2000 miles away yet we have absolutely no autonomy. Even the smallest changes have to be vetted by folks who have never set foot in our offices. The company used to feel like a family, now it feels soulless.

Yeah, folks, you know what else feels soulless? Being treated badly during the interview process courtesy of Toby Lund!

 

The compensation is not competitive and raises are meager unless you complain and/or threaten to quit. There is no 401k, only an ESOP with approx. 5% of annual salary contributions. Which means your nest egg is tied to company performance. That's fine if you are the CEO but not OK for rank and file employees.

You know what companies have done this, folks?  Enron & Worldcom.

 

OVID-19 was the wake up call that corporate management has no idea what they are doing and cares nothing for its employees other than as drivers of profit. As early as late April/May despite having a very robust remote work setup we were already being told to come back in...this was not optional.

As if that wasn't enough, management has stubbornly pushed forward with an office renovation that will remove all offices and create an "open office" environment. You read that right folks, management wants to push people closer together when social distancing is in full effect.

To add insult to injury, the CEO (who maintains an additional, unused, office at our location, which is not slated for demolition) broadcasts quarterly updates from his very plush office at corporate HQ. I guess what's good for the goose isn't good for the gander.

 

Yes, folks, IMEG Corporation is a corporation in that they treat their workers as disposable.  Do not think of IMEG Corporation as having employees, but having members of the Branch COVID-ians!  We believe this may be a sign in their offices.


 

I did not have a good experience with the company. I was hired on to one of the acquired companies and not told about the merger to create IMEG. The team lead I was working under was moved to another project leaving me a junior engineer to lead the team. I was told I had a year to learn under him but that was a lie.  Equipment was very old and not well maintained. One main piece of equipment broke down requiring an overhaul of the engine. This made making deadlines that were promised impossible. The company wasn’t invested into a software package that could help make the turnover process more streamlined. This made handing reports and data over extremely difficult.

 

Decisions are made from their Midwest corporate office, with narrow minded digging and clawing at each other. Very depressed work environment. Must pay for upper management title by having to invest in stocks that are probably worthless. Many had to take personal loans to but $100,000 of stocks to get a title.

 

Folks, you have heard of reverse compensation deals where TV stations have to pay networks to be a network affiliate!  Well, think of IMEG as having this same model.  And it does not go well!

 

Stop the BS. Treat people fairly, this is not 1975 management through intimidation. It’s like a POW camp. Awful, old non progressive. Woman beware you are a second class citizen at IMEG.

OMG, folks!  This looks like IMEG is a cult!  Guess Toby Lund forgot about the advent of the Internet, folks!  That is why this blog is posting his bad behavior as a Senior Recruiter at IMEG!  People need to recall he participated in evidence destruction by removing LinkedIn posts that make him look bad!

 

Structural managers are fairly young, inexperienced and scrooge, cutting corners from every aspect of your pay and the project budget yielding unreasonably intense work pressure.

 

You know what that means, folks!  There could be many parts of IMEG projects that are not even designed per code.  And we will be going into this later in this post.

 

Pasadena structural had a very bad culture with everyone wanting to leave because of the mistreatment by managers. Most of young engineers were looking for a new job.

 

You are a workhorse without much value to their employees. It is a very rigid work structure and you are scrutinized big time. They have a lockdown on the internet during workhours so it's very difficult to get personal things done between 8am-5pm.

 

Upper management will not protect you if you are bullied by your Supervisor at the direction of the particular office's HR Generalist.

 

-Poor communication skills. The communication skills of many of the engineering staff are very poor. Though this is a common industry problem, the company does not do enough to correct it. Courses in how to communicate with people should be mandatory through the education program and refresher courses given semi-annually

 

-Lack of Team work. You will find very few people who will work cooperatively with you here, unless you are working with corporate office location or a few of the other branch locations. Project managers and engineers like to hoard information and not pass it on until it comes up as an issue on a project. At that point be prepared to get "thrown under the bus" by your colleagues. That is a common practice.

 

-Poor bonus program. Regardless of what is told to you in the initial interview, the bonus program is practically non-existent. It is not performance based, nor is it a percentage pay-out program. It is the equivalent of a Christmas gift. Also non-engineer personnel will be paid a different bonus than the engineers.

 

Yeah, folks!  Your bonus is so low you cannot afford to keep the lights on at your apartment!

CONCLUSION – WHAT YOU CAN DO ABOUT THE BIG BAD IMEG CORPORATION

We conclude by having people out there ask themselves:  Would you work for a toxic place that doesn’t give a rat’s ass about your professional career and your health?  If you want to, then IMEG Corporation is for you.  Remember, IMEG Corporation is proof a mind is a dangerous thing!

Here are some solutions to resolve this issue of bad recruiter Toby Lund and all of his IMEG co-workers and friends:

1.      Toby Lund and IMEG employees need to be entered into every law enforcement data base possible because he is a liar and a fraud.  Would police trust him after the way he causes trouble with the Structural Engineering Professionals who apply for work at IMEG?  Of course not!

3.      Toby Lund and IMEG Corporation should be personally and financially held responsible for the student loan payments for all the candidates he interviewed with and jerks their chain for career opportunities.

4.      Toby Lund and IMEG Corporation should pay into the unemployment funds of all the states of the employees he unlawfully rejected for engineering positions.  Toby Lund should be held responsible by paying more into the unemployment funds.  For example, Washington State Unemployment is $844 per week.  For every bogus job IMEG advertises, these people need to pay several times that amount every week.  May we suggest 100 times the $844 amount per week per candidate?

5.      Toby Lund needs to publicize that he is a bad recruiter to everyone he knows.  This means posting a sign in front of his house, on his car, and in front of his children’s school(s).

6.      Toby Lund needs to sit in court whenever an IMEG-designed building has major construction defects.  Toby Lund needs to answer in a court of law why he hires incompetent people.  Just look at how he, Ed Dean, and Craig Chamberlain participates in the hiring process.  Toby Lund sucks like a Hoover.

7.      IMEG employees need to lose all their tax breaks.  Remember, folks, this would not have to happen if IMEG would just hire people instead of having them collect unemployment.

8.      If an IMEG employee is in the hospital and needs treatment for COVID-19, you can deny the treatment.  Yes, folks, it is harsh, but remember IMEG employees Craig Chamberlain, Ed Dean, and Toby Lund are too busy denying people career opportunities that are actually qualified to design buildings.

9.      Make sure everyone knows about the unethical actions of IMEG employees Craig Chamberlain, Ed Dean & Toby Lund.  Broadcast them on the radio & TV.
